Introduction to the cruise

The MV Lochinvar, Loch a' Bharr in Gaelic, is the second diesel-electric hybrid vessel in the CalMac fleet. She runs on a combination of diesel-electric and lithium-ion battery power, reducing fuel and CO2 consumption by at least 20%. Her name comes from and 1808 poem by Sir Walter Scott. MV Lochinvar was launched on 23 May 2013 at Ferguson Shipbuilders in Port Glasgow by Mrs Patricia Platten, wife of CMAL CEO, Guy Platten.
