The joint was delivered in 1981 from Djupviks Varv and is built in aluminium.The Skarven was the first steering island boat with a café in the saloon on the upper deck.The café was closed when it was replaced by the new Ylva in 1989 and instead became an evening boat.The Skarven is located in the southern archipelago during the summer timetable and during the rest of the year is in traffic on the Älvsnabben line.The ship is 28.80 m long and 7.52 m wide.There are 195 seats in the saloons and maximum passenger capacity is 298 people.Skarven was rebuilt in 1991 with, among other things, new furnishings.In 2021, it received new carpets and chairs in the salons.The joint is powered since 2020 by two Volvo Penta D13MH with a total of 900 hp (662 kW) which are each connected to a fixed propeller.During the autumn of 2016, the engines were fitted with particle filters.The speed is 13.5 knots.
