Introduction to the cruise

When the Älvsnabben traffic started in 1990, travel increased very quickly. The first two boats Älv-Snabben 1 and 2, which could only take 100 passengers, quickly became too small and were supplemented by Älv-Snabben 3 and Disa, both of which had previously served the southern archipelago. At the Norwegian Båtservice Holding in Mandal, Älv-Snabben 4 was ordered for delivery and start of traffic in the fall of 1994. It is built in aluminum and reinforced for walking in ice.The ship was designed to be able to take at least 20 bicycles on the foredeck and with wide bow gates to be able to board and disembark travelers quickly. In 1995, the sister ship Älv-Snabben 5 was added. The ship is 31.55 m long and 8.15 m wide. The salon has 158 seats and the maximum number of passengers allowed is 448. The salon was upgraded with new carpets and chairs in 2010. Since 2009, the ship is powered by two Volvo Penta D12 MH with a total of 900 hp (662 kW).Since 2014, the engines have been equipped with particle filters. The engines are connected via reduction gears to each fixed propeller.Speed 12.5 knots.
